Frequently Asked Questions
-
Coastal Lacrosse Academy is a premier club lacrosse program for Maryland and Delaware athletes. Our mission is to provide elite training, foster personal growth, and develop well-rounded lacrosse players who excel on and off the field.
-
We offer programs for boys and girls from elementary school through high school, ensuring age-appropriate training and competition for every player.
-
We strive to create a balanced schedule that supports player development while allowing time for family and other priorities. Our program is a one-year commitment that includes the fall, spring, and summer seasons. We also offer optional winter skill sessions to provide additional training for our athletes. By committing to Coastal Lacrosse, our players are expected to attend practices, tournaments, and team events throughout the year.
-
Yes, we understand the importance of multi-sport athletes. However, we ask that players make lacrosse their priority during the season, specifically when it comes to attending tournaments. Families should communicate with coaches about any conflicts for practices and tournaments as soon as possible.
-
Coastal teams practice at a mix of locations depending on the season. Our home fields are Sand Hill (for our boys teams) and Sussex Academy (for our girls teams), both conveniently located in Georgetown, DE. When spring showers make outdoor fields tricky, we occasionally shift to DE Turf to keep practices running smoothly. During the winter months, we hold skills sessions indoors at Crown Sports and The Factory. No matter the time of year, we’re committed to providing top-notch facilities to help our players grow and thrive.
-
Coastal Lacrosse brings together players from all over the Eastern Shore and coastal communities in Maryland and Delaware. Georgetown is the perfect middle ground—it’s centrally located, offers great fields, and is roughly a 30-60 minute drive for most families. We know everyone would love practices right in their backyard, but Georgetown gives us the best chance to pull top talent, keep travel manageable, and avoid those long drives that can lead to burnout. It’s a win-win for players, parents, and coaches alike!
-
Teams are formed through a comprehensive tryout process where athletes are evaluated on their skills, athleticism, coachability, and potential. We aim to create competitive teams that foster individual growth and team success.
-
Playing time is earned through effort, attendance, and performance at practices and games. Our coaches strive to balance individual development with team goals, ensuring players are rewarded for their dedication and contributions.
-
We understand that conflicts can arise. Players are expected to attend all tournaments and are required to notify their coach in advance if they cannot attend a practice. Repeated absences without valid reasons may affect playing time.
-
Our teams compete in a variety of high-level tournaments across the region to challenge and showcase our players’ skills. A detailed tournament schedule will be shared at the beginning of the season.
-
We carefully select coaches who are passionate about both the game and the players. Many of our coaches have collegiate playing or coaching experience and are dedicated to teaching the game with a focus on player development, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
-
Tuition varies based on team/age. Program fees cover practices, tournament fees, coaching, and administrative costs. Additional costs, such as uniforms, travel, and optional team gear, may apply.
-
Yes, we offer payment plans to make participation more accessible for families. Please contact our administrative team for more details.
-
Refunds are not provided after registration, as program fees cover a year-long commitment and team expenses are budgeted accordingly. Special circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
-
We encourage parents to support the team by attending games, fostering a positive team culture, and communicating constructively with coaches and staff.
